On the days of the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in spring 2010, an ash cloud blown from the crater of the icelandic volcano was spread in the european airspace and affected the global air traffic for weeks. The associated floricultures of Kenya Flower Council could not ship their products to Europe; after a phase of political instability and a major drought, they didn’t know if the industry would have survived the third major heat. In the meantime the New Zealand King Salmon Company benefited from the temporary reassessment of global market flows resulted from the lockdown of the european airspace and Juraj Hegyi and Zuzana Marcekova improvised their wedding in an hotel in Taiwan. Stranded – Stories from a time of stillness brings these witnesses together to address today’s strategies of production and reproduction and look into a condition that is no longer familiar: to wait.
